Camp Ginger Cascades
Camp Ginger Cascades is located outside of Lenoir in Caldwell County on 226 acres. It is a multipurpose site with a natural water slide, for which the camp is named. This camp has an archery range, pool, lake, climbing wall and cave, challenge course, dedicated craft areas, picnic shelters, mountain biking trails and hiking trails. Units include winterized log cabins, cabins and tree houses with electricity, winterized lodge for troop events and training and a winterized dining hall that seats 150.
The camp has also been recognized by the Governor's Council on Developmental Disabilities as one of the five exemplary programs in North Carolina by providing camp opportunities for girls with disabilities.

Camp Ginger Cascades Summer Program
Each summer, thousands of girls across North Carolina attend summer camp to meet new friends and explore the great outdoors. This summer, your daughter could have the opportunity to explore and learn valuable leadership skills at one of the four summer camps operated by Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont.
Each camp offers various activities such as canoeing, crafts, swimming, archery and so much more that will let girls be themselves and explore different possibilities.
Choose Your Own Adventure!
This summer will like no other at Camp Ginger Cascades! Girls will sign up for their favorite themed week and will participate in the camp activities with girls in their age group. Each afternoon, they will have the opportunity to make independent decisions on activities they want to participate in. The fee for all "Choose Your Own Adventure" weeks is $295 and $395 after March 15, 2012.

Grades 6-8
Tennessee Bound
June 24-29 ~ Fee: $550; after 3/15/12 $650
Discover the wonders of Tennessee. On this trip, slip and slide your way through Wild Bear Indoor Water Park, spend a night camping under the stars in the Smokey Mountains and enjoy a night at Ripley's Aquarium for some fun with the sharks and aquatic animals.
High Adventure
July 8-13, July 29-August 3 ~ Fee: $380; after 3/15/12 $480
Try your hand at flat-water canoeing, whitewater rafting and ziplining for an adventure-filled week! We'll have time to polish kayak paddling skills and rolls. We will then harness up to climb the wall. Finish your week hitting the bull's eye at archery and working as a team on the challenge course.
Appalachian Trail Hikers
July 8-13 ~ Fee: $325; after 3/15/11 $425
Join your sister Girl Scouts in hiking the entire Appalachian Trail in tiny bits and pieces. Spend three days and two nights on the trail. Before you head out on your adventure, learn about the "Leave No Trace" principles and the importance of protecting the environment and wild places.
Grades 8-9
Leadership Rocks
July 22-27 ~ Fee: $295; after 3/15/12 $395
Participate in traditional camp activities with a focus on leadership, decision-making, teamwork and achieving your personal best. Girls looking to gain some leadership experience, but are not quite old enough or ready for the CIT program can try this program. You will learn some baisc techniques in leading songs and games, working with others and how to become a better leader. Discover a strong sense of self by seeking ways to challenge yourself, while working with others to feel empowered to make a difference in the world.
Grades 9-12
Lost Sea
July 29- August 3 ~ Fee: $480; after 3/15/12 $580
Crawl and climb your way to the Lost Sea on this overnight caving adventure in Craighead Caverns. Once you've reached the Lost Sea, enjoy a ride on the glass bottom boat to discover the wonders of the deep.
Riding the Rapids
July 22-27 ~ Fee: $390; after 3/15/12 $490
Spend time at camp fine-tuning your paddling skills by canoeing and kayaking around the lake. Then travel to the French Broad River for a half day canoe experience. Ride the rapids and catch the waves as you paddle your whitewater raft down the river.
Leadership Opportunities
CIT I (Counselor-In-Training I)
Entering Grades 10+
June 17-22, June 24-29 ~ Fee: $415; after 3/15/12 $515
Have you always dreamed of being a summer camp staff member? Welcome to the first step...the CIT program! This sessions gives girls a chance to start developing skills as future camp counselors. Learn counseling and leadership skills, behavior management techniques, role play situations and learn new songs. You will learn to help with camp activities, work with younger campers and of course have fun! You cannot participate in CIT I and II in the same summer. Register by completing a Resident Camp Registration Form. CITs go home on weekends.
CIT II (Counselor-In-Training II)
Entering Grades 11+, by application only
July 8-13, July 15-20, July 22-27 ~ Fee: $495; after 3/15/12 $595
If you have already completed CIT I in a previous summer and have applied and been accepted as a CIT II, you will learn to work with staff and campers of all backgrounds and ages, hone your skills as a facilitator at program areas and get certified in American Red Cross First Aid and CPR. At the end of your training, you will graduate to Junior Counselor and be placed with a unit as a junior staff for a week to put all your training and knowledge into practice. Register by completing a Resident Camp Registration Form. You cannot participate in CIT I and II in the same summer. Must be entering grade 11 and be a CIT I or equivalent. CITs go home on weekends.
Family Events
Father/Daughter Weekend
Grades 1-12
June 15-17 ~ $125 per parent/child pair; $25 for second daughter
It's time to enjoy the weekend with your special guy. Maybe it is dad, grandpa or an uncle. Meet the Flinstones as we travel back in time- you and your special guy will have to solve the clues, create ways to capture and avoid the other teams. The torch of the past will be passed to the winning pair!
Mother/Daughter Weekend
Grades 1-12
June 29- July 1 ~ $125 per parent/child pair; $25 for second daughter
"Travel" around the world learning things and trying food, crafts and games from different countries. Make a passport and explore camp activities while enjoying each other's company. Activities will include water activities at the lake and pool, games at Mary Leach with the cascades and crafts.
Troop Camp
Memorial Day Weekend Core Camp
Grades 1-12
May 25-27 ~ $60 per girl, two adults free (no food service provided)
This core camp is for the experienced troop! No food will be provided so troops must be prepared to cook out in their unit for all meals. Activities include climbing, swimming, boating, cascading and arts and crafts. You will have some time in the evening to do troop activities. Make sure to come with a troop song to shart at campfire. Check-in is at 7 p.m. on Friday and check-out is at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
100 Years- Celebrate Girl Scouts!
Grades 1-12
July 6-8 ~ $100 per girl, two adults free
Come out to camp to celebrate 100 years of traditions in Girl Scouts! Activities include climbing, swimming, boating, cascading and arts and crafts. You will have time in the evening to do troop activities. Make sure to come with a troop song to share at the campfire. Check-in is 7 p.m. on Friday and check-out is 10 a.m. on Sunday.
Eco-Challenge Core Camp
Girl Scout Daisy, Brownie, Junior, Grades 1-6
July 15-17 ~ $100 per girl, two adults free
This troop camping experience is just for girls going into grades 1-6 next year. You will have the opportunity to explore camp through a variety of activities around the environment, as well as climbing, swimming, cascading and boating. Check-in is between 1:30 and 3 p.m. on Sunday and check-out is between 10 and 11 a.m. on Tuesday. All food and activities are provided.
Camp Like a Girl Core Camp
Girl Scout Cadette, Senior, Ambassador, Grades 6-12
July 18-20 ~ $100 per girl, two adults free
Your camp experience will be complete after spending time enjoying others from your troop. You will get to try archery, climbing, canoeing and funyaking. Plus, perform at the evening talent show! Check-in is between 1:30 and 3 p.m. on Wednesday and check-out is between 10 and 11 a.m. on Friday. All food and activities are provided.
Special Events
It's Your Life, Live It!
Grades 6-12
June 17-22 ~ $295; after 3/15/12 $395
This week you will set a course for a healthy future! The focus during this special session is to make a healthy living indivdual plan designed just for you. We will focus on physical fitness assessment, healthy lifestyle choices, planning and cooking healthy meals and snacks, emotional health and so much more! The camp will be designed and directed by a special guest pediatrician and a team of professionals specializing in fitness, nutrition and healthy living choices. You will have a great time learning these new skills and discovering how to stay healthy, but you will also enjoy all the camp activities including swimming, boating, climbing, hiking and more!

Summer Camp Preview Nights
This year we will be hosting five summer camp preview nights at the Girl Scout service centers in central and western North Carolina. You will hear a presentation about all of the summer camp opportunities around the state, take a virtual tour of all of the properties and get many of your questions answered. You do not have to register for this event. All preview nights are from 6-8 p.m.
